NCS March Madness Crowns Ambush as Champions of their Bracket

Ambush traveled to Lincoln, AL to compete in their first ever NCS Baseball Tournament. After completion of the brackets, the Ambush Army we're snapping photos with the championship banner!

Pool Play

Game 1 paired Ambush with cross-town foes, Seventeen Baseball Club. Walker Sumerel started the game and pitched one inning. The bats were cold early, as Ambush had to battle back from a 3-0 deficit. Jack Alston pitched two solid allowing zero runs while the offense picked up 9 runs over the next three innings. Davis Fuentes picked up his first save of the season on a three batter inning in the 4th as Jack Alston gets the win. Ambush won 9-5 with John Fox Cence earning the Effort Chain for his clutch fielding.


Game two of pool play pitted Ambush against Panther Baseball Club out of Southside, AL. Ambush won the toss and was the home team, however the bats started cold as the boys went down 6-0 after the Top of the 2nd. Asher Martin started for Ambush and went 1 & 1/3 a third innings. As the 'bush boys started chipping away, Parker Dove pitcher 1 & 2/3 to hold the Panthers stagnant.

Timely hitting and baserunning catapulted Ambush to a 9-6 lead as Davis Fuentes closed out the last inning for his 2nd save of the season. Parker Dove picked up the win. Colton Nuss had two huge hits and some nice putouts at 1st to earn the Effort Chain.


Bracket Play

Due to the Run Differential rule, 2-0 Ambush was given the #2 seed in the Gold Bracket. A rematch with the #3 seed Seventeen Baseball was on deck.

Logan Lynn started on the bump and went 2 innings for Ambush in the back and forth game. Timely hits and baserunning by Trevor Lowe and John Martin Parrish kept the game close going into the 3rd.

Jack Alston came in and shut down SBC in the third inning. Down two in the bottom of the 3rd, time was running out. Ambush tied the game with zero outs and Jack Alston was on third. Ambush moved onto the Championship Game with an 8-7 win as Jack Alston took home on a passed ball. With his pitching and baserunning, Jack Alston was awarded the Effort Chain for Game 3. Alston also picked up the win.


The Championship Game started at 9:45pm in 34° temperatures. The only undefeated teams on the day squared off, #1 Alpha Elite v. #2 Ambush.

Ambush started out the scoring with 2 in the top of the first. John Fox Cence started for Ambush, allowing 3 in the bottom of the first. Over the next two innings, Ambush scored 11 runs as Cence held the Alpha Elite to 1 run over two innings.

Multiple extra-base hits by Hudson Holmes and John Martin Parrish led to Ambush's biggest output inning of the season by scoring 8 runs in the third.

John Fox Cence finished off the 4th inning for a Complete Game win! The performance also earned him the Tournament MVP as well as the Effort Chain! #EarnYourStripes
